At the heart of our journey is a shared passion: to serve God and love the people of Mamelodi. Though our paths to ministry were different, God brought us together with a united purpose—to live out the Gospel in word and action, especially among the youth, the broken, and the overlooked.
From a young age, I felt a deep desire to become a missionary in Africa—a dream I believe was planted by God. At 16, I travelled to Malawi with World Servants, experiencing Africa for the first time. The beauty of the continent and its people, along with the evident need, reignited my passion.

After finishing school, I joined Operation Mobilisation (OM) to deepen my relationship with God and learn how to serve Him effectively. In 2018, I moved to South Africa to complete the Missions Discipleship Training, followed by 18 months of volunteering at Aids Hope. This season transformed me—I grew in faith, gained practical ministry experience, and developed a broader understanding of God’s world.
In 2020, I returned to the Netherlands with Thabo. Unsure of our next steps, we prayed and waited through the challenges of a long-distance relationship, repeated visa rejections, and the uncertainty of COVID-19. In 2023, they felt God clearly call Naomi back to South Africa. Though financially and logistically difficult, God provided every step of the way—through a job, new sponsors, and a clear sense of peace.
On July 29, 2023, I finally returned—back to Thabo, back to the ministry, and back to the children I had missed so much.

Just months later, I learned my online job would end due to company cutbacks. It was a financial and emotional blow. But through that hard season, we learned to depend on God more deeply than ever before. He provided—consistently and faithfully.
In April 2024, another shift came. OMZA and Aids Hope decided to part ways. We had to choose: stay, move on, or explore something new. After much prayer and many conversations, we decided—with heavy hearts—to leave Aids Hope. It was a sudden and painful goodbye.
But it also became a gift: a time for rest, reflection, and rediscovery.
My journey with Aids Hope began through someone I knew, not even with the goal of ministry at first. I was invited to teach computer skills to older adults attending a pastoral program through Aids Hope. After completing the course, I was approached by the former directors of Aids Hope, who asked him to consider joining their team—specifically in the children’s ministry.
And I agreed.
As time went on, I was invited into other ministry areas, including outreach to those struggling with addiction, prostitution, and other life-controlling issues. I found deep purpose in this work and joined efforts with a Korean missionary, to start a new initiative—Aganang, which means “Build One Another” in Northern Sotho. Aganang focused on door-to-door evangelism, sharing the Gospel with neighbours and bringing our presence deeper into the community.
Through Aganang, people in Mamelodi began to see Aids Hope as more than a name—they saw it as a living witness of Christ’s love in action.
Later, I joined a boys' discipleship program—and something clicked. I felt free, connected, and fully alive in the work. I began praying for God to show me His personal ministry vision. Four years later, that answer came.
God gave me the vision for a sports ministry—a platform to reach the youth of Mamelodi through the power of sport. Sports offer a space where young people can open up, share their stories, find healing, and build real community. I saw firsthand how sport connects people, including young men in the Netherlands who had experienced similar struggles.
I began praying and speaking with local contacts, many of whom expressed interest in joining the vision and helping form a team. I also started seeking out sponsors to help turn the dream into a reality.

Together, we are trusting God for the next steps. We are passionate about starting a sports ministry that will:
Disciple young people in Mamelodi
Offer safe spaces for vulnerable girls and youth
Help the broken find purpose, healing, and community
Build a church family modelled after Acts—where people share, support, and live for Christ daily
Though financial challenges remain, we believe God is preparing the way.
